    PS 114 This and the four following psalms, the Jews were wont to sing at the close of the paschal supper. It is a solemn commemoration of God's delivering Israel, giving them the law, and water out of the rock, ver. 1-8.

    Verse 2. Judah - Or Israel, one tribe being put for all. Judah he mentions as the chief of all the tribes.

    Verse 4. The mountains - Horeb and Sinai, two tops of one mountain, and other neighbouring mountains.

    Verse 7. Tremble - The mountains did more than what was fit at the appearance of the great God.
