Joe Gibbs 00106 BR 15W-50 Break-In Motor Oil - 1 Quart Bottle: Automotive. Specifically designed for breaking-in engines, BR break-in oil provides high levels of zinc, phosphorus and sulfur in a mineral base oil. Joe Gibbs Driven BR is a petroleum-based performance break-in motor oil specifically designed for racing engines and applications, as well as flat tappet camshafts and lifters. Containing highest levels of zinc and phosphorus, which are attracted to steel surfaces with the addition of heat, it provides and extra level of protection at the molecular level necessary during the sensitive break-in period. In addition, it requires no additives, promotes ring seal, is compatible with alcohol and high-octane fuels. Conventional SAE 15W-50 oil with increased Zinc content that requires no additives during engine break-in. View larger. Joe Gibbs Driven BR oil specs. View larger. Maximum Engine Break-in Protection Joe Gibbs Driven oils are formulated specifically for racing engines. Today's passenger car motor oils are formulated to be compatible with your street car's emission control equipment, and Federal EPA requirements have led to a reduction in formulated anti-wear chemistries like Zinc, Phosphorus and Sulfur in API rated engine oils. As a result, the oil you buy today is not the same as it was 10 years ago. While this is good for your street car, it is bad news for your racing engine, especially perhaps during engine break-in. But the Joe Gibbs Driven BR formula does away with that. Specifically designed for breaking in engines and flat tappet camshafts and lifters, Joe Gibbs Driven BR Break-in oil, with a viscosity typical of SAE 15W-50, provides the high levels of Zinc, Phosphorus and Sulfur in a mineral base oil providing your engine with maximum protection when it needs it the most. The BR formula protects flat-tappet camshafts and lifters during break-in and it provides excellent ring seal. Combined with Joe Gibbs Driven Engine Assembly Grease, BR provides the highest levels of protection for camshafts, lifters, wrist pins, distributor gears, push rods and valve retainers. BR is fully formulated and requires no EOS or other additives. BR should be preheated to 180°F before firing the engine for maximum protection. Also, because it is has a viscosity typical of SAE 15W-50, BR can be used for up to 2 hours of break-in/dyno time before changing to race oil.
