Product Description
Aid Through Trade Masquerade inch Flower Pin: Jewelry. Aid Through Trade is proud to be a member of both the Fair Trade Federation and Co-Op America. Almost two decades ago, Aid Through Trade was founded with a desire to bring the artistry and craftsmanship of the Nepali people to a western market, while simultaneously improving their social and economic status. While in the Peace Corp, Aid Through Trade founder, Damian Jones, became inspired by the women artisans of the Kathmandu Valley. Upon his return to the United States, Jones began to import the Nepali artisans' colorful jewelry and textiles, all while keeping an emphasis on social responsibility. While his background is one of science and education, Damians work with the Nepali artisans fostered inspiration and excitement. So, shortly after starting Aid Through Trade, Jones embarked on designing effervescent jewelry that coupled contemporary western designs and eastern artistry. To this day, his designs cultivate both elegance and exotic detail. Today, as we continue to help women artisan groups in Nepal and Vietnam bring their products to a western market, Aid Through Trade persists with that same philosophy. We continue to embrace (and practice) fair wages, excellent working conditions, advancement, training, and dignity in the workplace. Aid Through Trade practiced fair trade before the world had even coined the term, and we look forward to the continuation of these practices long into the future. Both of these organizations work to bring greater equality to those involved in the manufacture of products for export in developing countries.
