The Nimbus Core Pack from Granite Gear introduces a completely new concept in backpack design--offering hikers and climbers greater versatility for carrying hard to pack and bulky gear such as bear canisters. Beginning with the quest to develop a pack that would meet the challenge of packing and carrying a bear canister securely, the Nimbus Core features two full-length lateral pockets that cinch around whatever you choose to carry in the pack's core. In addition to carrying a large bear canister this turns out to be a versatile system for lots of different loads that can be hard to fit inside a conventional pack including tripods, fly rods, wet tents, and/or compressed items like sleeping bags. After filling the core, the Nimbus Core's compression flap cinches tight from the top, bottom, and sides to hold your load securely and efficiently. The Nimbus Core introduces a new suspension system from Granite Gear that combines their Advection back panel with their Topoflex frame sheet for ergonomic weight distribution and cooling. The Topoflex frame sheet follows both the vertical and horizontal contours of the back, allowing for a more consistent load distribution leading to better blood circulation and less muscle fatigue. Do this by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart. Tilt your head forward and place your hands on your hips, thumbs to the back. With a flexible tape, have someone measure from the most prominent vertebra at the base of your neck to an imaginary line drawn between your thumbs. This will be your torso length. Please note: Each framesheet has fine adjustment settings spaced in one inch increments to further fine-tune your fit. If you are a 17-inch torso, it is recommended to try the short torso first.
