Product Description
Gregory Maya 18 Daypack: Sports & Outdoors. Wayne opened his first company, Sunbird, in 1970, but dissolved it a few years later after expressing frustration with the limitations of external frame designs. The multi-use, women's-specific Maya 18 daypack easily stores and organizes gear for all of your trail endeavors. The Maya 18 is outfitted with Gregory's BioSync ATS technology system. ATS stands for Active Trail Suspension, and includes a set of flexible tendons that attach the shoulder harness and waist belt to the pack body. This allows the pack and suspension to move with the body while in motion, keeping you comfortable throughout the day. The BioSync ATS system also offers on-the-fly quick access to an internal compression structure, allowing you to draw the pack in closer to your back as the volume of the reservoir decreases. Gregory addressed every individual's fit and comfort needs from the beginning with its women's-specific fit. Designed for and tested by women, the Maya 18 is built to fit the female body shape, with a female-specific harness design and cut. Storage-wise, the Maya 18 includes a sizable main compartment, a front stretch-mesh pocket with three-point compression, a fleece-lined MP3/electronics top pocket, dual hip-belt pockets, and side mesh pockets to keep water bottles and snacks within easy reach. And hydration is a must while on the move, which is why the pack includes a hydration sleeve (reservoir sold separately) and an exit port system to manage the tube. The hydration sleeve offers rear zipper access for easy refilling. Other details include an internal cargo stabilizer loop to hold electronics in place; an adjustable sternum strap and webbing loop for lashing on light gear; a key clip and reflective accents. Shortly afterward, he met Andy Drollinger, the founder of San Diego California Adventure 16. Andy was so impressed with Wayne's design that he invited the Boy Scout to visit the Adventure 16 factory, where he began tinkering with a variety of backpack ideas. Wayne soon became the young company's second employee. He founded Gregory Mountain Products in 1977, eventually pioneering many firsts, including being the first to build backpacks in different frame, harness, and waist belt sizes; the first (and still only) pack manufacturer to develop a waist belt system that adjusts to fit different hip angles; and developing the center-locking bar tack, a stitch that ends and locks off on the center of a seam instead of the side for increased strength at major stress points.
