Product Description
Gregory Maya 22 Daypack: Sports & Outdoors. Wayne opened his first company, Sunbird, in 1970, but dissolved it a few years later after expressing frustration with the limitations of external frame designs. The panel-loading Maya 22 daypack is lightweight and comfortable, making it a great choice for an afternoon on the trail or in the city. Inspired by the biodynamics of the human body, the pack's BioSync technology system includes a set of flexible tendons that attach the shoulder harness and waist belt to the pack body. This allows the pack and suspension to move with the body while in motion, keeping you comfortable throughout the day. The BioSync system also offers on-the-fly quick access to an internal compression structure, allowing you to draw the pack in closer to your back as the volume of the reservoir decreases. The compression minimizes pack bounce during high aerobic activity, so it barely feels like you're wearing a pack. And to keep you dry, the suspension system's harness and waist belt are made of moisture-wicking material. Gregory also addressed every individual's fit and comfort needs from the beginning with its women's-specific fit. Designed for and tested by women, the Maya 22 is built to fit the female body shape, with narrower back panels than men's packs and a female-specific design and cut. Storage-wise, the pack includes an expandable stretch-mesh front pocket with three-point compression, a fleece-lined MP3/electronics top pocket, dual hip-belt pockets ideal for smaller items, and side mesh pockets to keep water bottles and snacks within easy reach. And hydration is always a must for outdoor activities, which is why the Maya 22 includes an internal sleeve that accommodates a hydration reservoir (sold separately), with an exit port for the tube and rear zipper access for easy refilling. Other features include internal cargo stabilizer loops for the hip-belt pockets, an adjustable sternum strap, and a webbing loop for lashing on light gear. Shortly afterward, he met Andy Drollinger, the founder of San Diego California Adventure 16. Andy was so impressed with Wayne's design that he invited the Boy Scout to visit the Adventure 16 factory, where he began tinkering with a variety of backpack ideas. Wayne soon became the young company's second employee. He founded Gregory Mountain Products in 1977, eventually pioneering many firsts, including being the first to build backpacks in different frame, harness, and waist belt sizes; the first (and still only) pack manufacturer to develop a waist belt system that adjusts to fit different hip angles; and developing the center-locking bar tack, a stitch that ends and locks off on the center of a seam instead of the side for increased strength at major stress points.
