Product Description
Gregory Jade 28 Technical Pack: Sports & Outdoors. Wayne opened his first company, Sunbird, in 1970, but dissolved it a few years later after expressing frustration with the limitations of external frame designs. The women's-specific Jade 28 technical pack is comfortable and lightweight, making it ideal for scrambles and long day hikes. The Jade 28 is equipped with Gregory's CrossFlo DTS suspension system, which provides cooling airflow across your back while simultaneously transferring the load weight to your hips. Gregory also addressed every individual's fit and comfort needs from the beginning with its women's-specific fit. Designed for and tested by women, the Jade 28 is built to fit the female body shape, with narrower back panels than men's packs and a female-specific design and cut. To help the pack maintain its shape, Gregory added an Auto-Fit harness, which increases the stiffness of the frame as the load in the pack increases. And for occasions when nimbleness is key, the pack includes side compression straps. The straps let you cinch down loads for jostle-free carrying, and double as lash points for bulky gear. Storage-wise, the pack includes a front bucket pocket for a rain jacket or other quick-access items; hip-belt pockets ideal for stashing gels, sunscreen, or mini-tools; and side mesh pockets and dual ice axe/tool attachments. Hydration is always a must for outdoor activities, which is why the Jade 28 includes an internal sleeve that accommodates a hydration reservoir (sold separately), with dual exit ports that allow you to route the drinking tube to either side of the pack. Finally, the pack includes a removable rain cover that stashes away in its own zippered pocket. The Jade 28 is available in small and medium sizes. Shortly afterward, he met Andy Drollinger, the founder of San Diego California Adventure 16. Andy was so impressed with Wayne's design that he invited the Boy Scout to visit the Adventure 16 factory, where he began tinkering with a variety of backpack ideas. Wayne soon became the young company's second employee. He founded Gregory Mountain Products in 1977, eventually pioneering many firsts, including being the first to build backpacks in different frame, harness, and waist belt sizes; the first (and still only) pack manufacturer to develop a waist belt system that adjusts to fit different hip angles; and developing the center-locking bar tack, a stitch that ends and locks off on the center of a seam instead of the side for increased strength at major stress points.
