Bowback Windsor Arm Chair Kit: Furniture & Decor. Height to top of arms 26. Windsor chairmaking in America began in Philadelphia. Indeed, by the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the term Philadelphia chair inch was a synonym for Windsor chair. The originals of our bowback inch Windsor chairs are typical of the work of Joseph Henzey of Philadelphia, circa 1765-1780. The seat is Eastern white pine. Turnings are clear maple. Bows and arms are ash. Our furniture kits include all necessary glue, screws, hardware, sandpaper, and assembly instructions. The price of the kit also includes a sufficient quantity of our Medium Wiping Stain. Over the stain, a final finish is required. Your local hardware store can supply varnish (ask for satin or eggshell). Shown in Medium Stain. Height of back 36. Height of seat 17 1/2.
