Product Description
Birdcage Windsor Side Chair: Furniture & Decor. Height of back 35 1/2. Windsor chairs have been made in America since the second quarter of the 18th century. At first, they were used as outdoor furniture. Later, they were found in both the simplest farmhouses and the largest estates, in every region of the country. Our chairs are copies of originals made in Boston, circa 1800-10. They are called birdcage inch Windsors because of the double bow in the crest. Windsor chairs are light in form, but rugged in construction. The seat is Eastern white pine. Turnings are clear hard maple. Spindles and bows are wedged solidly together. Sold in Medium Stain with a lacquer finish. Height of seat 17 1/2.
