Indeed, by the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the term Philadelphia chair inch was a synonym for Windsor chair. The originals of our bowback inch Windsor chairs are typical of the work of Joseph Henzey of Philadelphia, circa 1765-1780. The seat is Eastern white pine. Turnings are clear maple. Bows and arms are ash. Shown in Medium Stain with a lacquer finish. Height of back 36. Height of seat 17 1/2.
