Product Description
Hanna Instruments HI 96832 Digital Propylene Glycol Refractometer: Industrial & Scientific. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. The HI 96832 is a digital refractometer for measuring percent volume propylene glycol and the freezing point of a propylene glycol-based solution. The refractometer uses internationally recognized references for unit conversion and temperature compensation for glycol solutions (CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 87th Edition), a yellow LCD light source, and a stainless steel ring and flint glass prism sample cell. Measurement time is approximately 1.5 seconds, and the minimum sample volume is 2 metric drops. The refractometer uses one 9V battery, and features an auto-off function after three minutes of non-use and a battery error protection system to prevent erroneous readings. Propylene glycol range is 0 to 100 % volume (+ or – 0.3%), and freezing point range is 0 to - 51 degrees C (32 to -59.8 degrees F) (+ or – 0.5 degrees C, 1.0 degrees F). Dimensions are 19.2(W) x 10.2(D) x 6.7 (H) cm with weight 420g. Refractometers measure refractive index, which is the optical characteristic of a substance, and the number of dissolved particles present. Refractive index is the ratio of the speed of light in empty space to the speed of light in the substance. Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. To ensure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
