The Hanna Instruments HI 98517 is a handheld thermometer with a sharp stainless steel probe. The meter features a K-thermocouple temperature probe, and can be used with five different probes for measuring air, gas and liquids. With its sharp-tipped stainless steel probe, the meter is capable of penetrating a wide range of materials. The thermometer has a range of -40.0 to 550 degrees C, + or - 2 degrees C, with a resolution of 1 degree C. Response time is approximately 20 seconds. The meter operates on four 1.5V AAA batteries, and features a battery error prevention system which turns the meter off when the battery is low enough to take erroneous readings. Dimensions are 175 x 41 x 23 mm (6.2 x 1.4 x 0.8)/78 g (3.0 oz.).
