Product Description
Hanna Instruments HI 98140N Waterproof Portable pH Meter, with Smart Electrode and Log-On-Demand: Industrial & Scientific. Hanna Instruments holds many firsts in the field of analytical instrumentation, including a pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, an electronic pocket-sized pH tester, and a replaceable electrode pH pocket tester. The HI 98140N waterproof pH meter for measuring pH and temperature uses Hanna’s smart electrode technology that stores calibration data, a log on demand feature for storing up to 500 samples, and includes the HI 1618D PEI body, pre-amplified pH electrode, which has an internal temperature sensor, DIN connector and a 1 m (3.3’) cable for reaching test sites. The HI 98140N meter features the Hanna battery error prevention system (BEPS), which alerts the user when low battery power could produce erroneous readings, and has a user-set auto off function that can be disabled. The tester provides fast and accurate pH and temperature readings and features a large easy-to-read LCD screen, automatic temperature compensation (ATC) from -20 to 120 degrees C or -4 to 248 degrees F, and automatic calibration (up to three points with two custom buffers and seven memorized buffers: 1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01, 12.45). The meter also has on-screen tutorials on its large backlit LCD screen, and a user-selectable “calibration time out”, and comes with a USB connection for connecting the meter to a PC to download data. The HI 98140N tester measures temperatures of -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C (-4.0 to 248.0 degrees F) + or - 0.2 degrees C (+ or – 0.4 degrees F); RH max 100% with resolution + or - 0.1 degrees C (+ or – 0.1 degrees F), and has a range of -4.00 to 20.00 pH (+ or - 0.1; 0.01) with a resolution of 0.1; 0.01 pH. Power is supplied through (3) 1.5V AAA batteries, which provide up to 200 hours of continuous use without the backlight (50 hours with the light on). At 185 x 72 x 36 mm (7.3 x 2.8 x 1.4’’) and 300 g (10.6 oz.), the 98140N is a conveniently sized meter for taking measurements in the field. pH testers measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance and are commonly used by researchers, manufacturers, and hobbyists. Hanna Instruments manufactures a wide variety of analytical instrumentation, including pH meters, multi-parameter meters, electrodes, chemical reagents, and buffer solutions. Founded in 1978, Hanna is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI, with subsidiaries in 32 countries. To ensure the quality of its products, Hanna is a vertically integrated manufacturer and does not subcontract any part of its manufacturing.
