With its unique extraction system designed specifically for coffee-filled capsules, this single-serve automatic espresso machine prepares a perfect cup of espresso every time. The unit perforates the hermetically sealed capsule and soaks all the ground coffee to optimally filter the coffee, while its high-pressure 19-bar pump extracts all the aromas and gives body to the espresso, ensuring a smooth crema--the delicious creamy layer on top. In addition, the machine's ThermoBlock heating system heats water to an ideal extraction temperature, and the amount of coffee in the cup can be controlled automatically or programmed in (40 ml for espresso; 110 ml for lungo) with simple coffee-volume buttons. Used capsules eject automatically into the used-capsule collection container (14 capsule capacity) upon lifting the lever on top of the unit. A Nespresso Aeroccino one-touch milk frother with automatic shut-off comes included for frothing 4-2/5 ounces of milk or for heating up to 8-1/2 ounces of milk--great for macchiatos, cappuccinos or cafe lattes. Simply add milk, replace the lid, and press the button for milk froth in about 50 seconds or hot milk in about 80 seconds. Dosage indicators inside the jug make it easy to measure for milk froth or hot milk, while a stay-cool handle, drip-free spout, and cordless design (lifts of its power base) ensure graceful pouring into a cup. The espresso machine only uses capsules, not any other ground espresso, but Nespresso provides a range of premium coffee blends, including decaffeinated. Other highlights include a backlit on/off button, electronic temperature regulation, a drip tray, and a removable 41-ounce water tank.
