Old Dutch International 4¼ Inch Solid Copper Hammered Stovetop Salt & Pepper Set: Kitchen & Dining. Splatters from cooking can be cleaned off with a soft sponge and detergent; abrasive pads and cleansers will scratch the surface. A dedicated cook will keep these salt and pepper shakers right on the stove for the pleasure of seasoning with them. Gleaming with a mirror finish, each shaker is crafted of solid copper that has been subtly hammered for texture. Solid brass accents, also polished, include the base, a plaque with either 'S' or 'P' on it, and a squared, riveted handle. A plastic plug on the underside of each allows the nickel-lined interior to be filled with salt or pepper. The hole patterning on the domed top of each is identical. These shakers are heavier in weight than the company's unhammered version, which gives them an even more high-quality feel. Old Dutch International applies a lacquer to the shakers that resists tarnishing and maintains the polished look. While copper cookware often comes with a lacquer that needs to be removed before use, the lacquer on the salt and pepper shakers does not require removal. Each shaker measures 4-1/4 inches tall and 2-3/4 inches in diameter, excluding the handle.
