Riedel Vinum Extreme Syrah Glass, Set of 2: Kitchen & Dining. The set of two Bavarian-made glasses makes a handsome wedding gift or augments an existing collection. Renowned Austrian glassmaker Riedel designs the shape of each glass to most fully enhance the wine within. To meet the demand of today's increasingly more concentrated wines, Riedel developed the Vinum Extreme line, which features a pronounced diamond shaped bowl. Beautifully balanced, the two oversized and extra-tall glasses in this set are designed especially for the appreciation of rich, fruity Syrah, or as it's known in Australia, Shiraz. In fact, a well-known Australian Shiraz producer assisted Riedel in the development of this 2004 Vinum Extreme addition. As well as providing red wines more breathing surface, the modern diamond shape looks distinctly snazzier than typical wine stems. Though comprised of more than 24 percent lead crystal, which lends superb brilliance and clarity, Vinum Extreme glasses are affordable because they are machine-made. Each long-stemmed glass stands 9-1/2 inches tall and holds 22-1/4 ounces at full capacity. While dishwasher-safe, Vinum Extreme crystal, especially in the larger sizes, is best washed by hand to prevent both breakage and the detergent residue that can affect wine taste.
