silx Silk-Filled Comforters: Home & Kitchen. Not all dry cleaners are familiar or qualified to clean silk. The silx silk-filled comforter is the perfect alternative to down, cotton, wool or any other comforter filling. It is 100% natural, hypoallergenic and inhospitable to dust mites. The silk-fibers inside the comforter are long strands of mulberry silk. The silk fibers come from mulberry silk cocoons and have the length of about 1,300 feet. Silk fibers are the strongest natural fiber and also a natural fire retardant. It is half the weight of down and drapes to your body; eliminating cold spots. Due to it's low moisture retention, the silk-filled comforter is also mildrew resistant. The hand-stretched silk batting never wanders or bunches. Silk fibers are composed of 18 amino acids which are similar to and found in the human skin. The silk comforter is covered with a 260 thread count cotton cover. Measurements: Baby measures 30x 36, 10 oz. Twin measures 68 inch x 86, 57 oz. Full/Queen measures 90 inch x 86, 82 oz. King measures 104 inch x 94, 88 oz. Care: For everyday freshness, silk-filled bedding can be aired outside for a few minutes in indirect sunlight. Sunlight stimulates a natural cleaning process in silk – the sun encourages the silk to release any impurities that may be trapped inside the fibers, and the fresh air allows the silk to breathe. Take care to never place a SILX silk product in direct sunlight. Because silk filling cannot get wet, if a silx comforter needs to be cleaned due to stains or other soiling, use a professional dry cleaner familiar with silk-filled products. Please DO NOT machine launder or in any way wet-clean a silk-fiber-filled comforter, pillow, or mattress topper.
