Bundle up for chilly weather or impending rain showers with this WS-7017U wireless forecast station from La Crosse Technology. Using the included TX29U outdoor sensor, the station predicts weather based on the current temperature and barometric pressure. Three weather icons depict sunny, partly cloudy, or rainy conditions, while a tendency arrow indicates barometric shifts. Additionally, the station also features an atomic clock for the exact time and date, measures indoor temperature and relative humidity, and records minimum and maximum temperatures and humidity levels with a time stamp.The forecast station’s black and silver receiver has a hanging hook for wall mounting and a detachable stand for upright tabletop display. With eight contrast levels, the LCD screen relays the time, date, forecast information, and current climate. The clock resets daily and automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time via WWVB radio transmissions from the US Atomic Clock. With the four function buttons on the receiver’s front, the user can select the time zone, manually set the clock, turn off auto DST, choose between 12- or 24-hour and Fahrenheit or Celsius displays, and view MIN/MAX recordings. The receiver measures indoor relative humidity from 1 to 99 percent and indoor temperature from 14.2 to 139.8 degrees F. Outside, the remote sensor evaluates temperatures from -39.8 to 139.8 degrees F. The sensor transmits to the receiver at a 915 MHz frequency from up to 330 feet away unobstructed. Four separately purchased AA batteries are required.
