This winnowing basket from the Philippines is in very good condition, with it s very sturdy and tight weaving and rattan base and round lip trim. At two of the ends are woven handles, which allows the basket to be hung from a peg. Wind winnowing is an agricultural method developed by ancient cultures for separating grain from chaff and insects. The basket has a lovely patina, ranging from dark brown at the edges to a golden brown nearer to the center.
