He also had the opportunity to publish short stories or sketches. From fear of damaging his reputation as a serious political journalist, Dickens' early stories were published under the pen name Boz. In 1836, a collection of the stories were published together under the title Sketches by Boz, leading to the launch of his career. Cruikshank inch - recognizes George Cruikshank, an illustrator who contributed to several of Dickens' works including Sketches By Boz inch and Oliver Twist.
