Product Description
La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WA-1242U 4 Day Talking Weather Forecaster with E-mail Reader: Home & Kitchen. To operate the forecaster, no additional software or Wi-Fi connection is required. This talking internet-powered wireless forecaster not only provides free forecasts sent directly from the internet to the display unit for audio broadcast, it also reads e-mail messages aloud, allowing the user to check e-mail without sitting down and turning on the computer. From La Crosse Technology, the Weather Direct WA-1242U four-day forecaster reports the weather for the user-selected location with a push of the audio forecast key. Pressing the A/B/C keys relay custom audio feeds of news headlines, sports, and more in speaker sound. With the five e-mail navigation buttons, the user plays, stops, deletes, skips, and repeats audio e-mail messages. A provided AC-powered gateway connects with a secure LAN cable to a network router for internet transmissions, whether or not the computer is on. The forecaster also shares the current outdoor temperature transmitted by the included TX-50U wireless sensor. The display stands upright or wall hangs. The selected location, location forecast, sunrise and sunset times, and outdoor temperature scroll across the bottom LCD section. In the center section, sky condition icons and projected high and low temperatures predict the next four days’ weather, updating every six hours. The internet-set time, date, and alarm indicator occupy the top LCD. Additional function keys enable adjustments to LCD contrast, scrolling speed, and volume, Fahrenheit/Celsius selection, alarm setting, five-minute snooze activation, and viewing micro forecasts for morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Accompanied by mounting hardware, both the gateway and sensor communicate from 330 feet unobstructed. However, high-speed internet service, a network router, and the separate purchase of three C and two AA batteries are necessary.
