La Crosse Technology Weather Direct WD-2511U-CP 2 Day Internet Powered Wireless Forecaster: Home & Kitchen. No additional software or Wi-Fi connection is required. Check tomorrow’s weather forecast at any time on the screen of this internet-powered weather forecaster from La Crosse Technology. Via wireless communications from the internet, the Weather Direct WD-2511U-CP forecaster relates the next two days’ projected high and low temperatures and sky conditions for the forecast location, selected from over 60,000 US and Canadian location options. A provided AC-powered gateway connects with a secure LAN cable to a network router for internet transmissions to the display, whether or not the computer is on. Additionally, the forecaster comes with a TX-50U wireless outdoor sensor to measure temperatures right outside the front door. The display stands alone or wall hangs. The top LCD section displays the internet-set time, an alarm-on indicator, and the user’s choice of date, seconds, or the indoor temperature. In the center LCD section, forecast icons and projected high and low temperatures for today and tomorrow are posted; forecasts update every six hours. The selected location, location forecast, sunrise and sunset times, and outdoor temperature scroll across the bottom LCD section. On the backside of the unit, four function keys enable adjustments to LCD contrast, scrolling speed, or volume, Fahrenheit/Celsius selection, alarm setting, and viewing the outdoor temperature or micro forecasts for morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Communicating with the display from up to 330 feet unobstructed, both the gateway and the outdoor sensor come with mounting hardware. For the best results, install the sensor out of direct rain and sunlight. However, the system does necessitate high-speed internet service, a network router, and the separate purchase of three AAA and two AA batteries.
