Check tomorrow’s weather forecast at any time on the screen of this internet-powered weather forecaster from La Crosse Technology. Via wireless communications from the internet, the Weather Direct WD-2512UR-B forecaster relates the current day’s and tomorrow’s projected high and low temperatures and sky conditions for the forecast location, selected from over 60,000 US and Canadian location options. The user enables forecast transmission by turning on an internet-equipped computer, and plugging the provided USB transceiver into an open USB port.The display stands alone or wall hangs. The selected location, location forecast, and sunrise/sunset times scroll across the bottom LCD section. In the center LCD section, today and tomorrow’s forecasted temperatures and sky icons are posted; forecasts update every six hours. The top section displays the internet-set time, indoor temperature, and an alarm-on notification. Using the four-button interface, users can display the date, adjust LCD contrast and scrolling speed, set the alarm, and view micro forecasts for morning, afternoon, evening, and night conditions. The USB transceiver communicates with the display from up to 100 feet unobstructed. No additional software or Wi-Fi connection is required for forecaster operation. However, the system does necessitate a computer, high-speed internet service, and the separate purchase of three AA batteries. A limited one-year warranty covers the forecaster.
