With its advanced technology and range of readouts, the Weather Direct multi-line weather station keeps the forecast and other vital facts at the ready without requiring you to turn on the TV or check the computer. Created by La Crosse Technology, the unit communicates wirelessly with a dedicated website to deliver continuously updated 24-hour forecasts for 60,000 North American locations. Along the way, it tracks time, date, remote-sensor temperature, daily highs and lows, and the anticipated time of both sunrise and sunset.A high-speed Internet connection and a wireless router are needed to run the Weather Direct, but no software is required and no subscription is necessary. Forecasts are available for morning, afternoon, evening, and night for up to four days out, allowing for more accurate preparations and simplified planning. A series of icons communicates the numerous readings, which include chance of precipitation, rainfall in inches, hours of sunshine, barometric pressure, and wind gust/speed/direction. The wireless range is 330 feet, and use of a PC is necessary during setup or to customize features. Expanding the system to additional remote sensors is also possible, with their separate purchase, and adding forecast alerts through the National Weather Service is another option.The base device display measures 7-1/2 by 1-1/4 by 7-5/8 inches, and the outdoor sensor is 1-1/2 by 1/2 by 8 inches.
