Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) was the most powerful apostle of Tibetan Tantricism & a very eminent saint in the psiritual lineage of the Nyingmapa order of Tibetan Buddhism of which he was the founder. He was born out of a lotus flower in the lake Dhankasha & was invited by King Trisong Detsen to come to Tibet to subdue the opponents by his charms and spells. Modern imagery of Guru Rinpoche includes deep symbolism which portrays his many enligtened aspects. In his right hand, he holds a dorje, and in his left hand he holds a skull cup with a vase of immortality (Ambrosia).
