Well, what you hear in church is not really a good description.
Yahweh is really a family structure. Father, Holy Spirit the Mother and the Son.
The Holy Spirit is a woman. This is proven in Proverbs 1 and in how He describes woman in Genesis compared to how the Son describes the Holy Spirit in John 14:26:
So that man is not alone, He created a helper, called woman.
So that the church is not alone, He will send a helper(comforter) called the Holy Spirit.
She calls in the streets, telling the foolish to forsake folly (Proverbs 1).
She is Wisdom.. And in the New Testament the Holy Spirit is called, \""The Spirit of Truth\"".
The Trinity is manifested in three modes/beings of being (Mt 28:19). These three persons are the Father (Joh 3:34-35, 8:54), the Son (Tit 2:13,3:4-6), and the Holy Spirit (Ro 8:9,13:19).
Each person of the Trinity has various functions. The Holy Spirit's operations focus on five areas (Neh 9:20, Joh 14:26, Lu 4:18, Joh 4:7-15, Ac 1:8). Giving wisdom and understanding to the believer is one of these operations (Job 32:8, Ex 31:3). This mirrors the New Testament passage found in John 14:26, \""14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you\"".
Also, in troubling times She offers comfort (Ac 9:31). This, again, is confirmed a second time through the Son's words in John 14:26 (above). So, the Holy Spirit comforts / helps / intercedes for you in various aspects of your life.
