Radio Shack & Retail Giants Closing - Can't Find a Simple Adapter for PC Locally
I need a simple USB to PS/2 adapter and I figured, I should be able to easily find this item at a local Radio Shack, Best Buy or PC Shop.
Unfortunately, it was not easy.. First, 4 of the 5 Radio Shacks recently shut down. The one that was opened was liquidating everything and no longer had any in stock.
I called Best Buy asking for a USB to PS2 adapter and they send me over to gaming, thinking I needed some cord for a PlayStation 2 (PS2). lol. High school employees who know little about computer accessories.
I then call Office Depot and they also stopped carrying the item like a year ago.
I then call most of the computer shops in my area. They are either closed or do not carry this simple adapter.
I go look on Amazon and the first two pages of 3rd party sellers for this adapter are either: China, Singapore or Hong Kong. They can some how miraculously sell me the item and ship it to me for like $2 bucks. Shocking.
I recently heard that the reason they are able to ship for such insanely low prices, is because the USA government actually gives them half price on shipping, far below labor costs. So USPS is loosing money doing these types of shipments, on purpose. I guess the US Government sees us buying cheaply from China as the utmost importance. Screw all those now non-existant American jobs that actually use to manufacture things.
Finally, after about an hour of doing this, about the last computer shop even available to call in my city (no joke) has this item. Costs a pretty penny for sure. Probably could get for half the price online, but at this point I am pretty despirate, as I don't want to wait a week, two weeks or even a month for it to come in the mail. I want it NOW, because I have to get this computer installed now.
