    PS 54 David prays for help against his enemies, ver. 1-3. Comforts himself with the assurance of deliverance, ver. 4-7. To the chief musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A psalm of David, when the Ziphim came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us.

    Verse 1. Name - By thy own strength. Judge - Plead my cause.

    Verse 3. Strangers - The Zephites, whom, though Israelites, he calls strangers in regard of their barbarous and perfidious carriage.

    Verse 5. Thy truth - Whereby thou art engaged to fulfil thy promises and threatenings.
