Were blinded (epwrwqhsan). Rev., correctly, hardened, though the word is used of blindness when applied to the eyes, as Job xvii. 7, Sept. See on hardness, Mark iii. 5. Compare sklhrunei hardeneth, Rom. ix. 18.
