:10

SEV Biblia, Chapter 8:12

Y todo el pueblo se fue a comer y a beber, y a enviar porciones, y a gozar de gran alegría, porque habían entendido las palabras que les habían enseņado.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 12. And all the people went their way to eat and to drink , etc.] Freely and cheerfully: and to send portions ; to the
poor, who had nothing to eat and drink: and to make great mirth ; with music, vocal and instrumental: because they had understood the words that were declared unto them ; the meaning of the several laws read and explained unto them, whereby they better understood their duty, and in what instances and in what manner it was to be performed; how much more reason is there for joy and gladness, when the Gospel, and the doctrines of it, are clearly known and understood? ( Psalm 89:15,16).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 9-12 - It was a good sign that their
hearts were tender, when they heard the words of the law. The people were to send portions to those for who nothing was prepared. It is the duty of a religious feast, as well a of a religious fast, to draw out the soul to the hungry; God's bount should make us bountiful. We must not only give to those that offe themselves, but send to those out of sight. Their strength consisted i joy in the Lord. The better we understand God's word, the more comfor we find in it; the darkness of trouble arises from the darkness of ignorance.
