SEV Biblia, Chapter 11:32
y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel;
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 32. But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake , etc.] (See Gill on “ 1 Kings 11:13”). Ver. 33 . Because that they have forsaken me , etc.] My worship, as the Targum; both Solomon and the children of Israel following his example; which is not to be wondered at, considering how prone they always were to idolatry: and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon ; of which deities, (see Gill on “ 1 Kings 11:5, 7”). and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as [did] David his father ; the several laws of God relating to religious worship especially, which David was a strict observer of; and therefore Solomon, having such a pattern before him, was the more blameworthy.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 26-40 - In telling the reason why God rent the kingdom from the house of Solomon, Ahijah warned Jeroboam to take heed of sinning away his preferment. Yet the house of David must be supported; out of it the Messiah would arise. Solomon sought to kill his successor. Had not he taught others, that whatever devices are in men's hearts, the counse of the Lord shall stand? Yet he himself thinks to defeat that counsel Jeroboam withdrew into Egypt, and was content to live in exile an obscurity for awhile, being sure of a kingdom at last. Shall not we be content, who have a better kingdom in reserve?
