And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

World English Bible

From there he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and didn't want anyone to know it, but he couldn't escape notice.

Douay-Rheims - Mark 7:24

And rising from thence he went into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon: and entering into a house, he would that no man should know it, and he could not be hid.

Webster's Bible Translation

And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into a house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

VERSE (24) -
Mt 15:21 *etc:

SEV Biblia, Chapter 7:24

¶ Y levantndose de allí, se fue a los trminos de Tiro y de Sidn; y entrando en casa, quiso que nadie lo supiese; mas no pudo ser escondido.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Mark 7:24

Verse 24. Into the borders of
Tyre end Sidon] Or, into the country between Tyre and Sidon. I have adopted this translation from KYPKE, who proves that this is the meaning of the word meqoria, in the best Greek writers.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 24-30 -
Christ never put any from him that fell at his feet, which a poor trembling soul may do. As she was a good woman, so a good mother. Thi sent her to Christ. His saying, Let the children first be filled, show that there was mercy for the Gentiles, and not far off. She spoke, no as making light of the mercy, but magnifying the abundance of miraculous cures among the Jews, in comparison with which a single cur was but as a crumb. Thus, while proud Pharisees are left by the blesse Saviour, he manifests his compassion to poor humbled sinners, who loo to him for children's bread. He still goes about to seek and save the lost.

Vincent's NT Word Studies

24. Went away. See on chapter vi. 31. The entering into the
house and the wish to be secluded are peculiar to Mark.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

7:24 {Into the borders of
Tyre and Sidon} (eis ta horia turou kai sidwnos). The departure from Capernaum was a withdrawal from Galilee, the second of the four withdrawals from Galilee. The first had been to the region of beqsaida Julias in the territory of Herod Philip. this is into distinctly heathen land. It was not merely the edge of Phoenicia, but into the parts of Tyre and Sidon (#Mt 15:21). There was too much excitement among the people, too much bitterness among the Pharisees, too much suspicion on the part of Herod Antipas, too much dulness on the part of the disciples for Jesus to remain in Galilee. {And he could not be hid} (kai ouk edunasqe laqein). Jesus wanted to be alone in the house after all the strain in Galilee. He craved a little privacy and rest. this was his purpose in going into Phoenicia. Note the adversative sense of kai here= "but."
