Verse 11. Let no man-despise him] Let none pretend to say that he has not full authority from God to do the work of an evangelist. But conduct him forth in peace] I believe, with Bp. Pearce, that this clause should be translated and pointed thus: accompany him upon his journey, that he may come unto me in peace, (en eirhnh, in safety,) as the word is used in Mark v. 34; and Luke vii. 50.
For I look for him with the brethren.] ekdecomai-auton meta twn adelfwn. This clause should not be understood as if Paul was expecting certain brethren with Timothy; but it was the brethren that were with Paul that were looking for him; I, with the brethren, am looking for him.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 10-12 - Timothy came to do the work of the Lord. Therefore to vex his spirit would be to grieve the Holy Spirit; to despise him, would be to despis Him that sent him. Those who work the work of the Lord, should be treated with tenderness and respect. Faithful ministers will not be jealous of each other. It becomes the ministers of the gospel to sho concern for each other's reputation and usefulness.

16:11 {For I expect him} (ekdecomai gar auton). Apparently later Timothy had to return to Ephesus without much success before Paul left and was sent on to Macedonia with Erastus (#Ac 19:22) and Titus sent to Corinth whom Paul qen arranged to meet in Troas (#2Co 2:12).
