Early Christian Commentary - (A.D. 100 - A.D. 325) Anf-01 v.ii.x Pg 6 Jer. viii. 4. Permit them, then, to be instructed by you. Be ye therefore the ministers of God, and the mouth of Christ. For thus saith the Lord, “If ye take forth the precious from the vile, ye shall be as my mouth.”558
Anf-03 vi.ii.viii Pg 10 Jer. viii. 4 (in LXX.) appears to be the passage meant. The Eng. Ver. is very different. “He who hath fallen shall rise again, and he who hath been averted shall be converted?” He it is, indeed, who “would have mercy rather than sacrifices.”8497 8497
