Y tomaron a sueldo treinta y dos mil carros, y al rey de Maaca y a su pueblo, los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campamento delante de Medeba. Y se juntaron también los hijos de Amón de sus ciudades, y vinieron a la guerra.

Verse 7. Thirty and two thousand] The whole number mentioned in Sam. is, Syrians, of Beth-rehob, and of Zoba, twenty thousand; of King Maacah, one thousand; of Ish-tob, twelve thousand; in all thirty-three thousand. Of chariots or cavalry there is no mention. These could not have been the whole army.

David's wars. --The history is here repeated which we read 2Sa 10. The only safety of sinners consists in submitting to the Lord, seeking peace with him, an becoming his servants.
