Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Chronicles 1:50 Verse 50. Daughter of Mezahab.] This word bhz ym mey zahab, is literally the golden waters; or What is gold? The Targumist paraphrases thus: "MehetHebel, the daughter of Matred, was so earnest and diligent in business that she became immensely rich; but when she was converted, she said, What is this silver, and What is this gold? That is, They are of no real worth."

Le us take occasion from reading these lists of names, to think of the multitudes that have gone through this world, have done their parts in it, and then quitted it. As one generation, even of sinful men, passe away, another comes. Ec 1:4; Nu 32:14, and will do so while the eart remains. Short is our passage through time into eternity.
