King James Bible - 1 Kings 6:27

And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

World English Bible

He set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

Douay-Rheims - 1 Kings 6:27

And he set the cherubims in the midst of the inner temple: and the cherubims stretched forth their wings, and the wing of the one touched one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall: and the other wings in the midst of the temple touched one another.

Webster's Bible Translation

SEV Biblia, Chapter 6:27

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 27. And he set the
cherubim within the inner house , etc.] The holy of holies: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims ; the carvers that framed them, they wrought them in that form; or impersonally, the wings of the cherubim were stretched out; this was the position of them, they overshadowed and covered the mercy seat and ark, and even the other two cherubim that were at the ends of the mercy seat: so that the wing of the one touched the one wall ; the southern wall: and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall ; the northern wall; they reached from wall to wall, even the whole breadth of the house, which was twenty cubits, as their wings thus spread were, ( 1 Kings 6:24,25 2 Chronicles 3:11); and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house ; which was ten cubits, and that was the spread of the wings of each of them; so that the wing of the right side of the one, stretched out, touched the wing of the left side of the other fit the same position; in ( 2 Chronicles 3:13); their faces are said to be “inward”, or “toward the house”; either toward the holy place, and so faced those that came into that and saw them; or towards the inner part of the holy of holies, their backs being to the holy place, or their faces were inward, and looked obliquely to each other.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 15-38 - See what was typified by this
temple. 1. Christ is the true Temple. In him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead; in him meet all God' spiritual Israel; through him we have access with confidence to God. 2 Every believer is a living temple, in whom the Spirit of God dwells 1Co 3:16. This living temple is built upon Christ as its Foundation and will be perfect in due time. 3. The gospel church is the mystica temple. It grows to a holy temple in the Lord, enriched and beautifie with the gifts and graces of the Spirit. This temple is built firm upon a Rock. 4. Heaven is the everlasting temple. There the church wil be fixed. All that shall be stones in that building, must, in the present state of preparation, be fitted and made ready for it. Le sinners come to Jesus as the living Foundation, that they may be buil on him, a part of this spiritual house, consecrated in body and soul to the glory of God __________________________________________________________________
