As the waters fail from the sea, and the river wastes and dries up,

VERSE (11) -
Job 6:15-18 Jer 15:18

SEV Biblia, Chapter 14:11

Las aguas del mar se fueron, y se agotó el río, se secó.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Job 14:11

Verse 11. The waters
fail from the sea ] I believe this refers to evaporation, and nothing else. As the waters are evaporated from the sea, and the river in passing over the sandy desert is partly exsiccated, and partly absorbed; and yet the waters of the sea are not exhausted, as these vapors, being condensed, fall down in rain, and by means of rivers return again into the sea: so man is imperceptibly removed from his fellows by death and dissolution; yet the human race is still continued, the population of the earth being kept up by perpetual generations.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 7-15 - Though a tree is
cut down, yet, in a moist situation, shoots com forth, and grow up as a newly planted tree. But when man is cut off by death, he is for ever removed from his place in this world. The life of man may fitly be compared to the waters of a land flood, which sprea far, but soon dry up. All Job's expressions here show his belief in the great doctrine of the resurrection. Job's friends proving miserabl comforters, he pleases himself with the expectation of a change. If ou sins are forgiven, and our hearts renewed to holiness, heaven will be the rest of our souls, while our bodies are hidden in the grave from the malice of our enemies, feeling no more pain from our corruptions or our corrections.
