SEV Biblia, Chapter 11:12
Asimismo tomó Josué todas las ciudades de aquellos reyes, y a todos los reyes de ellas, y los hirió a cuchillo, y los destruyó, como Moisés siervo del SEÑOR lo había mandado.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 12. And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them did Joshua take , etc.] As particularly Madon, Shimron, and Achshaph, with others which he marched unto, after he had burnt Hazor; in which he took their kings, whither they had fled, or else he had taken them before in the pursuit: and smote them with the edge of the sword ; both the kings and the inhabitants of those cities: [and] he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the Lord commanded ; so that, in doing what he did, he did not indulge a spirit of revenge, cruelty, and avarice, but had regard purely to the command of Moses, which was of God, ( Deuteronomy 7:1,2).
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 10-14 - The Canaanites filled up the measure of their iniquity, and were, as judgment, left to the pride, obstinacy, and enmity of their hearts, an to the power of Satan; all restraints being withdrawn, while the dispensations of Providence tended to drive them to despair. The brought on themselves the vengeance they justly merited, of which the Israelites were to be executioners, by the command the Lord gave to Moses.
