VERSE (22) -
2Ch 9:29; 12:15

SEV Biblia, Chapter 13:22

Lo demás de los hechos de Abías, sus caminos, y sus negocios, está escrito en la historia de Iddo profeta.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - 2 Chronicles 13:22

Verse 22. Written in the
story] rdmb bemidrash, "in the commentary;" this, as far as I recollect, is the first place where a midrash or commentary is mentioned. The margin is right.

His ways, and his sayings] The commentary of the prophet Iddo is lost.

What his sayings were we cannot tell; but from the specimen in this chapter, he appears to have been a very able speaker, and one who knew well how to make the best use of his argument.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 22. And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings , etc.] Not only his warlike actions, and his course of life, but some remarkable sayings of his, he being a man of wisdom and eloquence, as his above speech shows; are written in the story of the prophet Iddo ; who might write the history of his own times; (see 1 Kings 15:7).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Abijah overcomes Jeroboam.

--Jeroboam and his people, by apostacy and idolatry, merited the sever punishment Abijah was permitted to execute upon them. It appears from the character of Abijah, 1Ki 15:3, that he was not himself trul religious, yet he encouraged himself from the religion of his people It is common for those that deny the power of godliness, to boast of the form of it. Many that have little religion themselves, value it is others. But it was true that there were numbers of pious worshippers in Judah, and that theirs was the more righteous cause. In their distress when danger was on every side, which way should they look for deliverance unless upward? It is an unspeakable comfort, that our wa thither is always open. They cried unto the Lord. Earnest prayer is crying. To the cry of prayer they added the shout of faith, and becam more than conquerors. Jeroboam escaped the sword of Abijah, but God struck him; there is no escaping his sword __________________________________________________________________
