Así dijo el Señor DIOS: Por cuanto han sido descubiertas tus vergí¼enzas, y tu confusión ha sido manifestada a tus enamorados en tus fornicaciones; y a los ídolos de tus abominaciones, y en la sangre de tus hijos, los cuales les diste;
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Ezekiel 16:36
Verse 36. Thy filthiness was poured out] ûtjn nechushtech. As this word signifies a sort of metal, (brass,) it is generally supposed to mean money. They had given money literally to these heathen nations to procure their friendship and assistance; but the word also means verdigris, the poisonous rust of copper or brass. It is properly translated in our version filthiness, poisonous filth. Does it not refer to that venereal virus which is engendered by promiscuous connexions?
Matthew Henry Commentary
Jerusalem like an unfruitful vine. If a vine be fruitful, it is valuable. But if not fruitful, it is worthless and useless, it is cast into the fire. Thus man is capable of yielding a precious fruit, in living to God; this is the sole end of his existence; and if he fails in this, he is of no use but to be destroyed. What blindness then attaches to those who live in the tota neglect of God and of true religion! This similitude is applied to Jerusalem. Let us beware of an unfruitful profession. Let us come to Christ, and seek to abide in him, and to have his words abide in us __________________________________________________________________
