Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge VERSE (44) - Eze 18:2,3 1Sa 24:13
SEV Biblia, Chapter 16:44 ¶ He aquí, que todo proverbista hará de ti proverbio, diciendo: Como la madre, tal su hija.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Ezekiel 16:44 Verse 44. As is the mother, so is her daughter.] htb hmak keimmah bittah, "As the mother, her daughter." As is the cause, so is the effect. As is the breeding, so is the practice. A silken purse cannot be made out of a swine's ear. What is bred in the bone seldom comes out of the flesh. All such proverbs show the necessity of early holy precepts, supported by suitable example.
Matthew Henry Commentary Jerusalem like an unfruitful vine. If a vine be fruitful, it is valuable. But if not fruitful, it is worthless and useless, it is cast into the fire. Thus man is capable of yielding a precious fruit, in living to God; this is the sole end of his existence; and if he fails in this, he is of no use but to be destroyed. What blindness then attaches to those who live in the tota neglect of God and of true religion! This similitude is applied to Jerusalem. Let us beware of an unfruitful profession. Let us come to Christ, and seek to abide in him, and to have his words abide in us __________________________________________________________________
