SEV Biblia, Chapter 10:13
Y el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que quiso, y todo lo que pidió, además de lo que Salomón le dio conforme a su grandeza. Y ella se volvió, y se fue a su tierra con sus criados.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Kings 10:13
Verse 13. All her desire whatsoever she asked] Some imagine she desired progeny from the wise king of Israel; and all the traditions concerning her state that she had a son by Solomon called Menilek, who was brought up at the Israelitish court, succeeded his mother in the kingdom of Saba, and introduced among his subjects the Jewish religion. See at the end of the chapter.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 13. And King Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire , whatsoever she asked , etc.] Some curious things she saw, and was desirous of, she asked for, and had them: besides that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty ; of his own good will and pleasure, without asking: so she turned and went to her own country : the country of Sheba in Arabia Felix: she and her sergeants : the train or retinue she brought with her, which was large, ( 1 Kings 10:2). Ver. 14 . Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty and six talents of gold .] From Ophir and Tarshish, and wherever he traded; which was of our money, according to Berewood f238 , 2,997,000 pounds; or as another learned man f239 , who makes it equal to 5,138,520 ducats of gold.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 1-13 - The queen of Sheba came to Solomon to hear his wisdom, thereby to improve her own. Our Saviour mentions her inquiries after God, by Solomon, as showing the stupidity of those who inquire not after God by our Lord Jesus Christ. By waiting and prayer, by diligentl searching the Scriptures, by consulting wise and experience Christians, and by practising what we have learned, we shall be delivered from difficulties. Solomon's wisdom made more impression upo the queen of Sheba than all his prosperity and grandeur. There is spiritual excellence in heavenly things, and in consistent Christians to which no reports can do justice. Here the truth exceeded; and all who, through grace, are brought to commune with God, will say the on half was not told them of the pleasures and the advantages of wisdom' ways. Glorified saints, much more, will say of heaven, that the thousandth part was not told them, 1Co 2:9. She pronounced them happ that constantly attended Solomon. With much more reason may we say of Christ's servants, Blessed are they that dwell in his house; they wil be still praising him. She made a noble present to Solomon. What we present to Christ, he needs not, but will have us do so to express ou gratitude. The believer who has been with Jesus, will return to his station, discharge his duties with readiness, and from better motives looking forward to the day when, being absent from the body, he shal be present with the Lord.
