SEV Biblia, Chapter 16:13
Y Samuel tomó el cuerno del aceite, y lo ungió de entre sus hermanos; y desde aquel día en adelante el Espíritu del SEÑOR tomó a David. Y levantándose Samuel, se volvió a Ramá.

Verse 13. The Spirit of the Lord came upon David] God qualified him to be governor of his people, by infusing such graces as wisdom, prudence, counsel, courage, liberality, and magnanimity.

Ver. 13. Then Samuel took the horn of oil , etc.] Out of his pocket, which he brought along with him by the direction of God: and anointed him in the midst of his brethren ; not in the presence of them, they sitting around, or standing by and seeing the ceremony performed; which is not consistent with the secrecy with which Samuel was directed to manage this affair, and which was necessary to observe, to keep it from the knowledge of Saul; and with Eliab’s treatment of David afterwards, who would never have addressed him in the manner he did, had he known that he was anointed king, ( 1 Samuel 17:28) but the sense is, according to Kimchi and Abarbinel, that he was selected out of them, and separated from them, and privately anointed by Samuel, and at most only his father Jesse present; wherefore some observe, that the words may be rendered, “anointed him from the midst of his brethren” f326 ; that is, he took him apart from them, and anointed him: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward ; not as a spirit of grace and holiness, which probably had come upon him before this time; but a spirit of prophecy, as did on Saul after his unction; and which particularly showed itself in music and poetry, in which he immediately became very eminent, and he was taken notice of for it, and which was the means of bringing him into Saul’s court; and a spirit of wisdom and prudence, in civil as well as in sacred things; and a spirit of fortitude, as the Targum, of strength of body, and courage and valour of mind; whereby he was enabled to encounter with the lion and bear, and get the mastery of them; which, with all other gifts of the spirit fitting him for government, he was now endowed with, and which continued with him: so Samuel rose up and went to Ramah his native place, and where he resided; that is, after the festival of the peace offerings, to which Jesse and his sons were invited; for the anointing seems to be before that.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 6-13 - It was strange that Samuel, who had been so disappointed in Saul, whose countenance and stature recommended him, should judge of another man by that rule. We can tell how men look, but God can tell what they are. He judges of men by the heart. We often form a mistaken judgment of characters; but the Lord values only the faith, fear, and love, whic are planted in the heart, beyond human discernment. And God does no favour our children according to our fond partiality, but often mos honours and blesses those who have been least regarded. David at lengt was pitched upon. He was the youngest of the sons of Jesse; his nam signifies Beloved; he was a type of God's beloved Son. It should seem David was least set by of all the sons of Jesse. But the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. His anointing was not a empty ceremony, a Divine power went with that instituted sign; he foun himself advanced in wisdom and courage, with all the qualifications of a prince, though not advanced in his outward circumstances. This woul satisfy him that his election was of God. The best evidence of ou being predestinated to the kingdom of glory, is, our being sealed with the Spirit of promise, and experience of a work of grace in our hearts.
