King James Bible - Deuteronomy 15:18

It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

World English Bible

It shall not seem hard to you, when you let him go free from you; for to the double of the hire of a hireling has he served you six years: and Yahweh your God will bless you in all that you do.

Douay-Rheims - Deuteronomy 15:18

Turn not away thy eyes from them when thou makest them tree: because he hath served thee six years according to the wages of a hireling: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the works that thou dost.

Webster's Bible Translation

It shall not seem hard to thee, when thou sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been of double the worth of a hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 15:18

No te parezca duro cuando le enviares libre de ti; que por la mitad del costo del jornalero te sirvió seis años; y el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendecirá en todo cuanto hicieres.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 18. It shall not seem hard to thee when thou sendest him away free from thee , etc.] He should not
grudge him his liberty, nor what he gives to him when he dismisses him: for he hath been worth a double hired servant to thee in serving thee six years ; since a hired servant a man is obliged to pay him wages for his work, besides his food, whereas a bondservant received no wages. Aben Ezra remarks, that this proves that a man might not hire himself for more than three years; or however, whereas a hired servant was sometimes hired for so many years, and this is the longest time of any we read of, a servant serving his master six years, his service must be worth double the service of an hired servant, which at most was but three years: and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thou doest ; thus well using thy servants, whether menservants or maidservants.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 12-18 - Here the law concerning Hebrew
servants is repeated. There is a addition, requiring the masters to put some small stock into their servants' hands to set up with for themselves, when sent out of their servitude, wherein they had received no wages. We may expect famil blessings, the springs of family prosperity, when we make conscience of our duty to our family relations. We are to remember that we ar debtors to Divine justice, and have nothing to pay with. That we ar slaves, poor, and perishing. But the Lord Jesus Christ, by becomin poor, and by shedding his blood, has made a full and free provision for the payment of our debts, the ransom of our souls, and the supply of all our wants. When the gospel is clearly preached, the acceptable yea of the Lord is proclaimed; the year of release of our debts, of the deliverance of our souls, and of obtaining rest in him. And as faith in Christ and love to him prevail, they will triumph over the selfishnes of the heart, and over the unkindness of the world, doing away the excuses that rise from unbelief, distrust, and covetousness.
