De la manera que escuchábamos a Moisés en todas las cosas, así te escucharemos a ti; solamente el SEÑOR tu Dios esté contigo, como estuvo con Moisés.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Joshua 1:17
Verse 17. Only the Lord thy God be with thee] Provided God be with thee, as he was with Moses, we will implicitly obey thee. The words however may mean no more than an earnest prayer for Joshua's prosperity: May God be with thee, as he was with Moses!
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 17. According as we have hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee , etc.] Not right or wrong, but in all things that were according to the laws and will of God made known to them; and particularly it may refer to the above affair, which was settled between Moses and them, to whom they then hearkened, and now promise to confirm the same, and hearken to whatsoever orders and instructions Joshua should give them relative to it, according to the plan agreed upon: only the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses ; which is not mentioned as a condition of their obedience to him, but rather as a reason of it, and as an encouraging motive to it; for, according to Kimchi, the true sense and meaning is, “for the Lord thy God will be with thee, as he was with Moses;” so Noldius renders it, “seeing the Lord thy God is with thee.”

Verses 16-18 - The people of Israel engage to obey Joshua; All that thou commandest u to do we will readily do, without murmuring or disputing, an whithersoever thou sendest us we will go. The best we can ask of God for our magistrates, is, that they may have the presence of God; tha will make them blessings to us, so that in seeking this for them, we consult our own interest. May we be enabled to enlist under the banne of the Captain of our salvation, to be obedient to his commands, and to fight the good fight of faith, with all that trust in and love his name, against all who oppose his authority; for whoever refuses to obe him must be destroyed __________________________________________________________________
