SEV Biblia, Chapter 23:14
Y quebró las estatuas, y taló los bosques, y llenó el lugar de ellos de huesos de hombres.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - 2 Kings 23:14
Verse 14. Filled their places with the bones of men.] This was allowed to be the utmost defilement to which any thing could be exposed.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 14. And he brake in pieces the images , etc.] Of Ashtoreth, Chemosh, and Milcom, in the above high places; which as these high places had been rebuilt by Manasseh or Amon, so new images of these deities were placed there: and cut down the groves ; in which they were set: and filled their places with the bones of men ; of idolatrous priests and worshippers, buried in parts adjacent; these he dug up and scattered in the high places and groves to defile them, bones of the dead being by law unclean, ( Numbers 19:15).
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 4-14 - What abundance of wickedness in Judah and Jerusalem! One would not have believed it possible, that in Judah, where God was known, in Israel where his name was great, in Salem, in Zion, where his dwelling-plac was, such abominations should be found. Josiah had reigned eightee years, and had himself set the people a good example, and kept u religion according to the Divine law; yet, when he came to search for idolatry, the depth and extent were very great. Both common history and the records of God's word, teach, that all the real godliness of goodness ever found on earth, is derived from the new-creating Spiri of Jesus Christ.
