Douay-Rheims - Esther 9:25

And afterwards Esther went in to the king, beseeching him that his endeavours might be made void by the king's letters: and the evil that he had intended against the Jews, might return upon his own head. And so both he and his sons were hanged upon gibbets.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 9:25

Mas cuando ella vino a la presencia del rey, él ordenó por escrito: El perverso designio que aquél trazó contra los judíos, recaiga sobre su cabeza; y cuélguenlo a él y a sus hijos en la horca.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 25. But when Esther came before the king , etc.] To request of him her life, and the life of her people: he commanded by letters, that his
wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head ; that whereas his wicked scheme was to destroy all the Jews, the king, by his second letter, gave orders that the Jews should have liberty to defend themselves, and destroy their enemies which rose up against them; and the friends and party of Haman were entirely cut off: and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows ; which he had prepared for Mordecai; not that they were ordered to be hanged together, nor were they; Haman was hanged before on the twenty third day of the month, but his sons not till the fourteenth day of the twelfth month; ( Esther 7:10 8:9 9:13,14).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 20-32 - The observance of the Jewish
feasts, is a public declaration of the truth of the Old Testament Scriptures. And as the Old Testamen Scriptures are true, the Messiah expected by the Jews is come long ago and none but Jesus of Nazareth can be that Messiah. The festival wa appointed by authority, yet under the direction of the Spirit of God It was called the feast of Purim, from a Persian word, which signifie a lot. The name of this festival would remind them of the almight power of the God of Israel, who served his own purposes by the superstitions of the heathen. In reviewing our mercies, we shoul advert to former fears and distresses. When our mercies are personal we should not by forgetfulness lose the comfort of them, or withhol from the Lord the glory due to his name. May the Lord teach us to rejoice, with that holy joy which anticipates and prepares for the blessedness of heaven. Every instance of Divine goodness to ourselves is a new obligation laid on us to do good, to those especially who mos need our bounty. Above all, redemption by Christ binds us to be merciful, 2Co 8:9 __________________________________________________________________
