Clarke's Bible Commentary - Exodus 31:8 Verse 8. The pure candlestick] Called so either because of the pure gold of which it was made, or the brightness and splendour of its workmanship, or of the light which it imparted in the tabernacle, as the purest, finest oil was always burnt in it.
