Clarke's Bible Commentary - Job 32:11
Verse 11. I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons - Instead of µkytwnwbt tebunotheychem, your reasons, µkytwnwkt techunotheychem, your arguments, is the reading of nine of Kennicott's and Deuteronomy Rossi's MSS. The sense, however, is nearly the same. Whilst ye searched out what to say. ] ylm wrqjt d[ ad tachkerun millin; "Whilst ye were searching up and down for words." A fine irony, which they must have felt.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 6-14 - Elihu professes to speak by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, an corrects both parties. He allowed that those who had the longes experience should speak first. But God gives wisdom as he pleases; thi encouraged him to state his opinion. By attention to the word of God and dependence upon the Holy Spirit, young men may become wiser tha the aged; but this wisdom will render them swift to hear, slow to speak, and disposed to give others a patient hearing.
